July 2010
The WCGALP (world congress on genetics applied to livestock) 2010 in Germany, Leipzig was a major success and we have brought back a lot of new knowledge that will be implemented in our horse breeding program accordingly. We also had the chance to visit numerous international renowned studs throughout Europe for the gain of practical knowledge and the identification of superior breeding stock. We are very proud to be in a position that enables us to gain knowledge of international value and to implement this in the South African horse breeding industry.

June 2010

*Rock Affair leaves the stud to be united with her new owner, Hayley Smith, in Johannesburg. She was such a star right through the washing and grooming and loading and travelling ect.. keeping in mind only 2 months after being weaned. We are sure she will make The Painted Stud, as well as her new owner, very proud in the show circuit. For more info on this lovely filly see foal pages 2009.

*Dark Knight leaves the stud to join his new home in Sandton with Liss Odendaal. After being on spelling the last 2 years we have grown very fond of him. Unfortunately it was time to see our boy leave. He is a very special horse with his flashy markings and kind personality. We will miss him dearly. For more info on this showy colt, see foal pages 2007.

May 2010

*Our new SAW mare, Branic Enchantress, arrived at stud. She was bred/jumped by Lynda Rabie of the Branic warmblood stud in Gauteng. This stud is well known for producing top show jumpers from international lines.

We are very privileged to own a mare like Enchantress and she is even more than we expected. She will be used in combination with our top class appaloosas to produce some outstanding appaloosa sport horses.

* Painted Zuzelle passed away due to an unknown virus. We are still awaiting results from Onderstepoort. She was such a strong hearted filly with a great character, we cannot believe she is gone.....everything happened just to quickly.

*We have been invited to present our research at the 9th World Congress on Genetics applied to livestock production during the month of August 2010 in Germany, Leipzig! We will definitely be on the look out for new breeding stock to import while we are there....
